Hey everyone, just wanted to give you an update as to what is going on with 8bit Gaming. So far we have been able to cast a decent amount. AN7 has mainly been doing some weekend and even during the week stuff and myself, I have been doing mostly weekends and some night stuff. Speed Runs are still going strong. I have added lots of new ones, so be sure to check those out.

We just started our very first contest on the channel to celebrate 100,000 views of our channel. If you haven’t seen it yet check it out here. We are looking to probably do another at our 1000th follower and more in the future.

We have been pretty consistent each week with our casts, so things are better than they were with actual live broadcasting on our channel. Again, we do put our personal lives ahead of this so if stuff comes up we really can’t stream.

Today we also did our very first dual cast stream. Basically me and AN7 streamed Final Fantasy VII at the same time and it turned out to be a huge success. Got lots of good feedback from everyone. We hope to do it more often!!!

If you have any ideas or thoughts or just want to chat about gaming email us at 8bgaming@gmail.com or just jump in the chat on the channel. And as always we hope to see you in the channel :)

Dream Com Productions:

Dream Com Productions is a company and venture that’s been in formation for years, but is just now becoming a reality. Ideally our ultimate goal is to become an in-store endeavor that sells games, anime, manga, etc, and also has a LAN center and gaming lounge. The way gaming stores like Gamestop and Best Buy work these days is you come in, you get hassled about what you’re looking at, and then it’s pretty much “buy something or get out.” With DCP we want to make a place that’s a haven for gamers and fans of our culture. They can come in, play games, relax, talk with all of us, and interact in a social environment. We also look to give back to the community, and to use gaming’s broad audience and resources to do fundraisers for those in need, charities, organizations etc.

I’ve been a competitive gamer for about 6 years, and started out playing Halo for the Xbox. When I got into competitive gaming that’s really when I kind of fell in love with the gaming community because when you go to events our tournaments, its not just immature people trash-talking, there’s a lot of socializing, and people meet new friends, possibly even love interests. On the surface it seems like you’re just going to this tournament with a bunch of “nerds”, playing a game and being anti-social, but the tournament attendance for video games is almost double most people’s graduating class in high school…nothing anti-social about that!

Neobullseye:

Age: 21

Location: Somewhere in the Netherlands.

Schedule: Weekday evenings around 19:00 to 22:30 (excluding friday), Around 17:00 to 22:30 on Saturdays, and whenever I feel like it on Sunday, though almost never before 12:00. (All times are on a 24-hour clock, GMT+1)

Recording system: Just plain old Xsplit combined with an internal mic that records both my voice and the game at once. It takes a bit of tampering with the individual volumes and recording volume, but it’s by far the easiest to set up. I also dual-stream on two channels at once, just ’cause I can.

GCH1204:

Will update soon

Continuing on from my last post, the game gets really interesting from here. As the team is beamed back to Alexandria, Steiner and Marcus make an appearance in a cage dangling from the ceiling. This part of the game I always thought was a little annoying due to the timing of things, but after some practice you get the hang of it. So after they were able to generate enough momentum to bash the cage against the path to their right it was pretty much non-stop battles until they reached the other side. Once they reached the ladder I think I should have taken off all the armor and weapons and stuff that I gave to Marcus because I don’t think I got those back?

Anyways, with all this running around eventually Steiner meets back up with Zidane and the rest of the team and is giving only 30 minutes until the Queens ship arrives. I tried not to rush this part as I wanted to get some of the conversations and stuff, but you can just rush through this also if you are worried about time. Just avoid female Alexandrian guards because they will start a fight. Also there is an optional boss here, but I didn’t feel like dealing with it at the moment. It is said to be the toughest fight yet at this point in the game, so check out PlayOnline Keyword: OPTBOSS1 for the details on how to find this thing.

If you were like me and decided to blow off fighting that boss just continue through the areas and eventually you will end up at the Queens castle. All Zidane needs to do is make it to the Queen’s chamber to save Princess Garnett. So again avoid the Alexandrian soldiers and continue until you reach the Queen’s chamber. Look around the room as there is a switch that gives you access to a secret room and here you will find the Princess in a somewhat coma state after her summons were taken out of her. As your party enters the room to save Garnett Zorn and Thorn show up to try and stop you from taking the Princess. Depending on your level you should be able to get through this fight fairly easy. STEAL!!! and use ice attacks and it should be over in no time. Check out PlayOnline Keyword:ZRNTRN1 if you need help. From here it is pretty self explanitory as you just run down there stairs and dealing with the moving platforms isn’t really that difficult, just time everything right and you’ll get through it pretty quick.

Once you get back to the Queen’s chambers hit up the moogle and give him a letter, that is if you have been doing the mail stuff. Be sure to save because you have another bout with Beatrix.

This battle is finally the final battle between you and the Knight Beatrix. STEAL!!! and also have Vivi cast slow and blizzara on her. Same with Steiner, have him use his blizzara sword attack. Other than that just tough out the fight. Check out PlayOnline Keyword: BEATRX3 if you need help.

An interesting thing happens after your fight with Beatrix. Zidane is able to convince Beatrix to protect the Princess and join the party. Zorn and Thorn don’t entirely agree with her decision so they set a Bandersnatch on the party. With Beatrix in your party…this fight is nothing!!! Perform Beatrix’s Climhazzard and you will end the fight pretty quick :).

As you make your way back down the steps you will find yourself running into black mages and some Bandersnatches. Use fire when you can to dispose of them quickly. Eventually on your trip down Steiner will split from the group and help Freya and Beatrix who are also fighting Bandersntaches. (Once you get back down the stairs return to the moogle Mosh in the chapel for a letter and to save)

So just as you think your out of the fight and on your way to Treno on the gargant, that annoying ass worm shows up yet again and this time its stronger. Check out PlayOnline Keyword:RALV2 if you need help. The setup for this fight should probably be Vivi casting Ice, Garnett casting shell and protect and as always STEAL!!!!! One thing to note though…don’t physically attack this thing when it coils up.

After Ralvuimago gives up you continue on to Pinnacle Rocks.

New Summon

Now I don’t know about you, but one of my biggest reasons for playing Final Fantasy when I was younger was to go out and collect the summons and watch their EPIC entries into the game every time you cast them. Final Fantasy IX does not disappoint with EPIC cut scenes that involve some of the strongest summons in the game battling it out.

Well here in Pinnacle Rocks you FINALLY get the opportunity to earn your first Eidolon (or summon as I call it).

One the team recovers from from the crash a mysterious figure appears to Dagger and challenges the group to a trial. The trial involves running around the area and finding the figure and reading parts of a story. Once you have gathered all 5 parts go back to where he showed up originally and put the story together. If you do this successfully then you get a Peridot, which allows Dagger to summon Ramuh. Check out PlayOnline Keyword:RAMH1 if you need help with the story.

Back to the story

After being side tracked for Ramuh, you end up back in Lindblum. This place has been totaled by Queen Brahne and the only good thing is that Alexandrian soldiers won’t attack you. Be sure to look around ALOT (check out PlayOnline Keyword:ITEMS5)…even though the city is blown all to hell there are still some items laying around.

If you remember the layout of the town from before, work your way to the mall area and there you will find Minister Artania and he will escort you to Cid. This is where the group will plan to find and defeat Kuja, so take the rest of the time to stock up on items from the shops and also maybe take a rest at the inn. Don’t forget to hit up the moogle Moodon for an important letter from Ruby to Zidane. Once you feel you are ready to go take the party Qu’s Marsh just north of here. Cid will meet you on the base level of Lindblum’s Grand Castle and will give the group the World Map to help you out with your navigation.

Qu’s Marsh Excavation Site

Just to remind you about the Chocobos…you have the option of hitting up a Chocobo Forest north of Dragon’s Gate if you want to put some time into digging. Check out PlayOnline Keyword: CHOCO6 for more.

The Qu’s Marsh doesn’t really offer much here. If you feel like it, take your time and capture some frogs and then head on over to the elder hut. Once you have learned a little about the entrance to the underworld exit to the right of the elder’s hut and keep going right and you will eventually run into the entrance to Fossil Roo.

Fossil Roo

As you enter Fossil Roo a gate will open and the guardian of Fossil Roo will chase the party through a gauntlet of swinging pendulums. If you hit one of these you will be slowed down, giving the guardian time to catch up. If the guardian catches up to the party you will be forced to fight it. Check out PlayOnline Keyword: ARMD1 if you are having trouble. Don’t be afraid to stop every once in awhile to time the pendulums to help you get through and avoid taking a hit.

After avoiding the pendulums and the crazy guardian you really have no time before you are thrown in font of another adversary. Remember when the Queen sent 2 bounty hunters after your group? Well now one of them has caught up. Lani confronts the group asking for Dagger’s pendant and doesn’t care if she cooperates or not. Check out PlayOnline Keyword: LANIB1 if you have trouble with this fight.

Now this next part can be a bit confusing with all the switches and running around. So pay attention here…

Putting the smack down on Lani only brings you to a bit of a puzzle inside of Fossil Roo. I will attempt to ease your pain in navigating this place, but be prepared to spend some time down here.

At the bottom of the stone steps take a left and you will see some wild yellow flowers. These are used to call the giant beast that run the transportation network down here. Take that flower over to the area where a “!” pops up above your head and click the x button to call the gargant. This will take you to the excavation site.

Run up the stairs and talk to the treasure hunter. After he kindly gives you information on the way out of here, head down to the right and hit up the moogle Stiltzkin and buy his medicines and also be sure to save your game using Mogki the moogle.

So now begins the fun part…

From the moogles head down to the right and you will see more yellow flowers pick one up, find the area that puts a “!” above your head and ride the gargant. This trip will yield you some Fairy Earrings and also show you that each path has a divergence. After you get the item ride the gargant back to teh excavation site. Now go through the tunnel past the Treasure Hunter and call another gargant to ride the path controlled by switch 1. As you get dropped off head right and you will find switch 1. Go ahead and flip this switch and return to the drop off point with a yellow flower.

The gargant will now drop you off at a cavern with two levels. So you will need to climb the steps and follow the top path where you eventually find an item. Return to the drop-off point and follow the lower path through the series of twist and turns to switch 2. Flip this switch too and then return to the drop off point and take a ride back to switch 1. Take switch one and make it so that you will return to the moogles and treasure hunter and go to the bottom right and ride the gargant down there again. This time you should be dropped off in a new area with a new treasure hunter.

Go down the stairs to reach a platform that has switch 4. Flip this switch and ride the gargant again….are you finding this as annoying as I did (hehe).

After all this switching and riding you will now be taken to a part of Fossil Roo that contains a wall covered in vines. Be careful here as some of the statues on the wall throw out water and will knock you off. You will want to reach the upper part of the right-hand wall to get to the exit.

Once you have reached the upper right platform you will find yet another treasure hunter. You will want to take this guy up on his offer also (Check out PlayOnline Keyword: THUNT1 for more on this part). When you are done digging just go to the lower right exit to find a storage area. You can now leave Fossil Roo by returning to the chamber with the vines and climbing up and hitting switch 3, which is the upper-left platform, and then falling down to the bottom of the cave and exit out the bottom right. Call a gargant and you will now leave Fossil Roo.

GEEZUS!!! That was a bunch of this switch that switch ride that gargant blah blah blah… Well I hope that little walkthrough helped…more on disc 2 in my next post.

Continuing on the path from my last post, the party gets all the way to the castle wall in Burmecia. Once the characters work their way through into the castle they are able to then hide out and listen to a very interesting conversation. This is where we get to see a little more into the mysterious man that the Queen has been seen with. But, due to a dumb Burmecian solider this is cut short and quickly turns into a rescue mission. As the party intervenes they are greeted by a very powerful foe, General Beatrix. Beatrix is considered one of the best fighters in the world, she has even been called superhuman.

In my opinion the battle wasn’t really that tough. I just equipped my strongest weapons and made sure to get slow on her as soon as I could. I also used Freya’s Reis’s Wind and had Vivi belt her with Thundara and Blizzara. To add to all of that I also made sure to use Quina’s Mighty Guard ability to help during the fight. Other than all of that I just kept stealing till I got all the items I wanted and then just went at her. Unfortunately you don’t get to kill this enemy and she gets to straight up OWN your party and put everyone down to 1hp by the time she escapes the battle, but don’t worry you get to fight her again!

So after Beatrix wuss’s out and runs away you are given control of Steiner and Dagger at Summit Station. As you explore the area talk to as many people as you can because some give you some good info and others even give you stuff. Once you feel like moving on talk to the attendant and you should hear some familiar voice outside.

Following the sounds of the voice you will find that Cinna and Marcus are back. Unfortunately you have to deal with the annoying Steiner at this point to really be able to talk to them. So tell Steiner to shut the hell up and then follow Marcus onboard the car to Alexandria.

Not to long after you get onboard are you faced yet again with the Black Waltz No.3. This time though the Waltz is in total kill mode and doesn’t even respond to anything Dagger questions it about. Again this battle is pretty simple with the right tools. Just give your team your strongest weapons and have Steiner focus on his physical attacks and Marcus stealing and Dagger for protection spells/healing. Be careful not to kill this guy to quick (1292HP) as he does have 2 items to steal which are a Lightning Staff, if you missed in Burmecia, and a Steepled Hat. (Sorry no video on this one, I didn’t make the highlight in time before the cast got deleted!)

After the battle you load back up on the car and head out to a quiet little place where you can stock up on items even find some chests. Once you have explored the area throughly, go to the gate and show the guards your pass and continue on to Bentini Heights.

PlayOnline.com Keyword: APUP1

Now on your way to Treno you could make a little pit stop somewhere else and get some extra stuff…though it is your decision on if you want to or not. If you choose to go this route look for a cavern behind a long stretch of forest to the southeast of Treno.

PlayOnline.com Keyword: STELLA2

This area is called Quan’s Dwelling, which is a good place for resting and also leveling up if you need it. There is even a very interesting piece of writing on the wall that involves Vivi, so be sure to check it out! So once your done here head back the way you came to Treno.

PlayOnline.com Keyword: ATES1
PlayOnline.com Keyword: STELLA4

So now that your in Treno I advise you to look around play some cards and def give the fountain some of your time and money. If you have been collecting the Stellazzios you will find the Queen of Treno here that accepts them and gives you items for each one you give her.

PlayOnline.com Keyword: GRIFF1
PlayOnline.com Keyword: STELLA7

Also there is a optional boss, when you enter the door near the moogle there is a Griffin in a pit. I took on this boss just to see how well I would do and it was pretty easy. I was able to really kick its a$$ due to the fact that I turned in like 5 stellas was able to get the blood sword, which made Steiner ridiculously strong against this guy. So if you are sure you will win this fight go ahead and take him on.

Now Treno also offers another perk to this place and that is the auction. The auction has some pretty nice items in it, but I advise you make some decent Gil before you start bidding. Check out the keyword link above for more info on this.

So after all the games and running around you now get back to the quest for the Supersoft. This is actually pretty easy to get, just follow the storyline and you’ll have it in no time.

So after you meet with Dr. Tot and get the Supersoft and go down the hole you will then have to activate an insect driven automobile to take you to the next area. This is pretty simple as all you have to do is go to the right hit the activator and then go back to the left and hit the feed lever. Once you get on the insect you will eventually run into a boss fight.

PlayOnline.com Keyword: RALV1

Ralvurahava, the gigantic worm you run into, isn’t really that tough of a fight either, but there are times when it can get annoying. So what I did was made sure everyone who had antibody had it equipped. I also made sure to cast protect on my party members and also had Marcus constantly stealing. After that just have your party beat on this boss until it either dies or leaves the fight.

After the boss fight you then get control of Zidane and the other party members in Burmecia. After all the dialog head to the big sandstorm and begin your climb up the trunk.

PlayOnline.com Keyword: KUPNUT1
PlayOnline.com Keyword: ITMS1

Before you actually start moving your way up the trunk be sure to equip your characters with your strongest weapons and maybe even give some of your characters some Desert Boots. Also once you start your way up the truck LOOK EVERYWHERE there are items all over the place!

Everything in this part of the game is pretty straight forward…but there is one area that you would want to pay attention to and that is when you get to a ledge where you can put your hand in a hole, do so. This will fill the area up with sand and allow you to access the chest on the branches above later on. Also, when you enter the room with the quicksand be sure to have your joystick pointed in the direction you want to get out while your hitting the X button so you jump out in that direction.

PlayOnline.com Keyword: ITMS3
PlayOnline.com Keyword: ANTL1
PlayOnline.com Keyword: FREYA1
PlayOnline.com Keyword: ITMS4

So once you have covered all you can in the trunk you will eventually end up in the Cleyra Settlement. It really doesn’t hurt to do the walkthrough of the settlement that way you are kind of given a heads up as to where things are at. Also, like I have said before, LOOK EVERYWHERE there are items all throughout the place. Once you feel you have found all the items talk to the guards at the cathedral and you will learn of a giant creature attacking a child, so you must run down to the beginning and go right to see the Antlion sitting in the quicksand.

The Antlion fight wasn’t really that hard but there were also a couple annoying things about it just like the others. What I did was equip some Desert Boots, kept Freya’s Reis’s Wind up, had Vivi use Blizzara and everything else was standard stealing and just physical attacks. I wanted to keep stealing to get the Gold Helm, but I was getting tired of the upkeep on my characters so I figured I would just get through the fight and get that item later in the game.

Antlion will eventually die and the invasion of Cleyra will begin. Freya is now your party leader, and I would advise running to save first and go up to the cathedral for a nice item. Then head down to the bottom of the trunk taking as few side paths as possible. Eventually Puck will come out and redirect the party back up to the settlement.

Now this part can be a little tricky, in my opinion it is really only important if you want the items from the people you save. If you could care less then just go through it is fast as you can and don’t even think about the selections. If you do care about who you save you do get some interesting items from the survivors, so here is the way to do it to get everyone to survive:

At the very beginning tell the Oracles to head right

Outside the Inn tell Dan’s family to go left

Tell family to follow over the bridge

After you take care of all the soldiers you end up back at the Cathedral where General Beatrix will be waiting. Be sure to talk to all the survivors for the extra items I mentioned above. Also be sure to save, just in case the next battle is to much for you.

Outside of the Cathedral General Beatrix is waiting for you again and this fight can be a little more annoying than the first so be sure to throw slow on her as quick as possible. I also used Mighty Guard, Freya’s Reis’s Wind to help with healing and stole from her as much as possible. Vivi’s Blizzara spell packs quite a punch on her also, but don’t do it to much or you will miss out on some of the items you could steal.

After you beat her to a pulp she again drains your party down to 1hp and runs off, which is pretty annoying. The only good thing about this is that I am looking forward to the final match with her.

So Beatrix eventually escapes with the help of the Queen’s black mages and the group is somehow allowed to follow her. I either missed some dialog or I am totally confused on why these mages just stand there and let the party jump on board, but anyways you end up on the Queen’s airship where you get to watch to most kick a$$ cut-scene so far in the game.

That was a pretty kick a$$ scene wasn’t it :).

More to come in my next post.

As with any Final Fantasy game a little, leveling becomes important at some point in the game. I decided to level up a little bit while running around the plains. During all the running around I came up on mysterious gate that comes up with a “?” when you approach it. Entering it brings you to a gate in which you can not enter…but if you take the time to look around you can find some goodies, especially the area that gives you full HP and MP :). Oh and if you look close enough you can find some Mocca Coffee laying around.

Meeting Quina at Qu's Marsh

So, back to the storyline. If you took the time to mark certain areas on the map when you were at the lookout with Princess Garnet (Dagger) then you should have no problem finding Qu’s Marsh. If you didn’t take the time to located look for a marshy area just north of the Dragon’s Gate.

Qu’s Marsh is just a weird place with weird residents. In this area you meet the fourth member of your party Quina. What I find funny about this character is the fact that no one if this character is a he or a she, so most Strategy Guides have S/he in it when talking about Quina.

My first time through FFIX I remember giving this character very little thought. S/he didn’t really interest me and dealing with building up her Blue Magic was just annoying. The fact that you have to get a enemy down to 1/8th of their health to eat them can get annoying as hell really quick. While watching my cast you will see me having to skip certain characters from attacking and doing different stuff just to keep the enemy alive just long enough to where Quina can Eat them.

So after you feel the need to leave this dam place you will find yourself running by a pond with a bunch of frogs jumping around. Capturing these frogs actually will help one of your attacks and the more you get the stronger it gets…so anytime you see frogs…CATCH THEM!!! PlayOnline Keyword: QUFROG1

Once I was done with this weird ass place, I went back out to the plains looking for Gizamaluke’s Grotto. This place can kind of get annoying quick with all the bell ringing and random fights and a couple annoying enemies that can kick your a$$ if you don’t get rid of them quick enough. Anyways, once you enter the Grotto you can see first hand the destruction that Zorn and Thorn have started with these Black Mages.

With dead Burmecian soldiers laying around you find yourself having to find the ones that are alive to progress through this area because you need the bells to get through some of the doors.

Now I won’t go on getting through this place, it is pretty much self explanatory, but one little bit of advice; when you get to the 3 doors, do the left one first and then the bottom right one and after talking to the moogles don’t go up the vine…if you do, some enemies will own you!!

Master Gizamaluke

On to the boss of this area! As you reach the end of this place you find yourself up against Master Gizamaluke. Now I have no idea what the hell this thing is and where it got the name “Master Gizamaluke”. Apparently the Burmecian soldiers really care about this thing and are really worried about its behavior, but you jump in and take it on. Now this battle was fairly simple, but it took me a little longer due to the fact that I wanted all 3 items that you were able to steal (Ice Staff, Magus Hat, Elixir). PlayOnline Keyword: GIZMAL1

So of course while your out there getting your a$$ kicked Steiner and the Princess are running around and trying to get through the South Gate.

Now this part of the story is fairly easy to get through just run around and talk to people…look for a couple very IMPORTANT chest (PlayOnline Keyword: STEINE1). A part I found pretty funny is the fact that Steiner and just hauling the princess around in a bag FULL OF PICKLES!! I just think it is funny that the guards couldn’t take the time to look in the bag because they smelled the pickles. Really there isn’t much more to this place other than the Princess and Steiner getting on the cable car so they can reach the next station.

Finding Cancer in FFIX

The game then returns Zidane and the crew who are working their way through to Bermecia. As you run around the plains you will notice an area that starts to rain once you enter it. This place is called the “City of Perpetual Rain” for a reason. Well after you enter the city Freya has some thoughts to share with you about being back in her kingdom and how she will fight to save it. This leads up to my favorite part of the cast which was finding an item hidden behind a crate and the text that came up when you found the item. Check out the screen shot.

All I can say about this part is take the time to look around!! There are a lot of free items laying around and even some nice new weapon upgrades, such as the Mythril Spear and the Lightning Spear.

Other than that there really isn’t much else to say as this is as far as I got in my last cast and all the stuff building up to the next battle is just running around and getting items and moving around Bermecia.

So come join me Friday Feb 4th, 2011 at around 9pm(ish)EST to see the end of Disc 1.
